GaN is a very stable compound, and it is also a hard material with high melting point. At room temperature, GaN does not dissolve in water, acid and alkali, but in the heating of the alkali solution dissolutes with a very slow rate. NaOH, H2SO4 and GaN can corrode H3PO4 crystal with low quality, so it can be used for the defect detection of GaN crystal. Instable in HCL or H2 gas at high temperature, and the most stable in the N2 gas. 

Can be used for high brightness blue and green light-emitting tubes, light detectors, short wavelength lasers, microwave power amplifiers, sensors, white light sources (daylight lamp, electric light bulbs, etc.)
