Brownish black cube crystal, absorbing carbon dioxide in the air. Density (g/mL, 25/4 C): 7.143. The melting point (S. C): 300. Soluble in dilute acid, ammonia and sodium cyanide solution, oxidation. Slightly soluble in sodium hydroxide solution, hardly soluble in water and ethanol.

 For the pharmaceutical and organic synthesis, used as a polishing agent, coloring agent, glass battery plates, catalyst and water purifying agent.
