Cesium sulfate(Cas 10294-54-9) Usage

Properties Hygroscopic, requiring storage under dry inert gas; incompatible with water, reducing agents, and oxidizing agents.
Primary Sources Salt lake brines.
Hard-rock ores like pollucite, avogadrite, and lepidolite.
Uses Cesium sulfate creates dense aqueous solutions for DNA purification and recovery. Component in RNA preservation solutions (e.g., RNA later) to prevent RNA degradation. It is enabled the development of new catalysts and advanced materials in chemistry and materials science.
Health Risks Harmful if ingested.
May impair fertility or harm the unborn child.
Prolonged exposure may damage organs.

, Hydrometallurgy Volume 199, February 2021, 105537

A Cs-loaded organic phase with 4.66 g/L Cs+ and 3.05 g/L Rb+ was obtained after a four-stage countercurrent extraction. Around 99.20% of Cs+ and 10.44% of Rb+ were extracted by using 4-tert-butyl-2-(α-methylbenzyl) phenol (t-BAMBP). After scrubbing and stripping of the Cs-loaded organic phase by diluted H2SO4, a cesium sulfate solution of 16.6 g/L Cs+ was obtained. A cesium sulfate product with a purity of 98.47 wt% was then recovered by evaporation and crystallization of the stripping solution

Activity Coefficients of Cesium Chloride and Cesium Sulfate in Aqueous Mixtures Using an Electromotive Force Method at 298.15 K

Mancheng HuJing TangShu'ni LiShuping XiaRuifang Cui

, J. Chem. Eng. Data 2007, 52, 6, 2224–2227

Activity coefficients for the CsCl + Cs2SO4 + H2O ternary system were determined at 298.15 K by electromotive force (EMF) measurements of the cell:  Cs ion-selective electrode (ISE)|CsCl(mA), Cs2SO4(mB), H2O|Ag|AgCl. The cesium ion-selective electrode (Cs-ISE) and the Ag|AgCl electrode used in this work were made in this laboratory and had a good Nernst response.
